How to Start a Networking Business Online

A networking business, which is also called a network marketing or multi-level marketing business, can be a lucrative venture for anyone who is ambitious enough to start their own company.
Most networking businesses have payment structures that enable people to earn money on their own sales as well as the sales of others in their downline.

- 1 Search the Internet for network marketing or multi-level marketing companies. Look at the types of products they sell. Think about what type of products you enjoy and decide if there is a high demand for the products. Consider joining an online network marketing company to get a feel for how the business works.
- 2 Go online and find a wholesale supplier for your selected products. Ask the wholesalers if they will dropship or send products to your customers so you can avoid having a large amount of inventory. Choose a wholesaler that provides a combination of dropshipping, a quick delivery time and the lowest unit cost on their products.
- 3 Decide on a name for your business. Call the county clerk's office and ask for an application for your DBA (doing business as) and vendor's licenses. Complete the forms, include your payment and mail back the forms.
- 4 Set a retail price for all of your products that gives first-level distributors 20 to 40 percent off the retail price. Decide how many levels to pay each person recruited into your downline and others. Search online to find a company that sells multi-level payment software. Have them assist you in creating your payment structure.
- 5 Find a web designer online to develop a website for you. Order samples of your product and take pictures of them. Write a brief summary of each product. Send all of this information to your web designer along with your payment software, for which your web designer will need to set up a tracking system based on each user's identification. Tell the web designer that you will need self-replicating websites for your distributors.
- 6 Design catalogs, pricing sheets and order forms for your distributors in case they want to market their business in more conventional ways. Create a welcome letter for all new distributors, suggesting how they can get off to a quick start with their business.
- 7 Find an attorney online or in your city who is experienced in multi-level marketing law. Make sure your payment structure is legal before you start marketing your business.
- 8 Advertise your online networking business in business opportunity magazines. Order some business opportunity buyers' names from online vendors, then create a postcard that includes your website information and mail the cards out to these individuals. Add your main website to all of the major search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Lycos.
