More Grand Theft Auto V screenshots surface

Image
We know you still haven’t gotten enough of all the Grand Theft Auto V screenshots that have been released over the past couple months, which is why we’re posting even more today. A Grand Theft Auto V -related website has more details about the upcoming sequel, as well as a handful of new screenshots that show off what we should expect come spring. GTAV.net has posted up a convenient bullet list of many of the new features we might see in the upcoming Rockstar title, and they also included a gallery of about 60 un-watermarked screenshots from the game — all of which give us a good look of GTAV ‘s environment and different characters, as well as the different weapons and vehicles. Grand Theft Auto V will feature the largest in-game world of any Rockstar game . The developer says that Grand Theft Auto V ‘s Los Santos world will be bigger than Red Dead Redemption , GTA: San Andreas , and Grand Theft Auto IV combined. We’re pretty shocked by that, and we can’t even begin to imagine ho...

YouTube to start another big round of content investment

Image
YouTube has announced that it is investing more money to bring a professional level of content to its website in an attempt to lure more viewers and advertisers. The new round of investments, nearly a year after YouTube invested $100 million to create over 100 new channels, including a lot of celebrity content. Google says that it will provide a second round of funding to between 30% and 40% of its original partners. Those original partners that will be getting an additional round of funding will be notified the next few weeks. YouTube says that it wants the new round of funding to help kick start the ecosystem to bring in even more great content creators. YouTube found that having a channel with a celebrity attached wasn’t good enough to lure in viewers stating, “Celebrity alone isn’t enough.” 25 of the top new channels now average more than 1 million views a week and the top 33 have over 100,000 subscribers, which is a key indicator of repeat viewing according to YouTube. Most chann...

Mercedes SLS AMG Coupé Black Series revealed… and it’s a beast

Image
Mercedes has outed its latest high-performance AMG branded sportscar, the SLS AMG Coupé Black Series, borrowing racing credentials for an achingly impressive road car. Wrapping a long-snouted, gull-wing chassis around AMG’s 6.3-liter V8 engine, the new car forces 631 HP through a 7-speed sports transmission, for a 0-60mph surge in 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 197mph. That V8 comes with no supercharging or turbocharging, instead relying on natural aspiration for its 8,000rpm maximum and 635 Mb of torque at 5500rpm. However, various AMG efforts to slim the car have helped squeeze as much potential out of the powerplant as possible; the new sports exhaust system, for instance, has been crafted from titanium, saving 13kg from its steel predecessor. In fact, at 1,550kg, the SLS AMG Coupé Black Series is 70kg in total lighter than the SLS AMG. The bonnet is carbon-fiber reinforced plastic, just as is used in motorsport, as is the rear panel behind the seats, the underbody bracing, and th...

Large Hadron Collider researchers discover decay in supersymmetry theory

Image
Researchers at the Large Hadron Collider in Geneva, Switzerland have discovered a decay in an important physics theory known as supersymmetry. This theory is in place to predict the existence of super particles. Nicknamed SUSY, the Supersymmetry theory is a way to explain some of the inconsistencies in the traditional theory of subatomic physics. The new observations, which were reported at the Hadron Collider Physics conference in Kyoto, Japan, is not consistent with many of the most likely models of the theory, and researchers were hoping that the Large Hadron Collider would have confirmed the SUSY theory by now. However, the theory isn’t dead yet, but the latest results certainly put it up on the chopping block. Supersymmetry claims that more massive versions of particles exist from what has already been detected. The existence of these larger particles would help explain why galaxies appear to rotate faster than what the Standard Model would suggest. Physicists have speculated th...

Halo 4 playlist update adds SWAT and new Spartan Ops episode

Image
Halo 4 has received its first playlist update, and this one is pretty big. First and foremost, this new playlist update adds SWAT, a game mode that takes away your shield and you radar for healthy dose of one-hit kill tension. SWAT was a fan-favorite multiplayer mode in Halo: Reach , and after being mysteriously absent from the playlist line up in Halo 4 at launch, it’s here at last. Oh, did we also mention that there aren’t any armor abilities or custom load outs in SWAT? As the description of the Halo: Reach game mode described, it’s “just you, your DMR, and a lot of headshots.” In Halo 4 ‘s SWAT mode, players actually get to pick between the DMR and the Battle Rifle, but aside from that little change, it appears that SWAT is more or less the same as it was in Halo: Reach . Also available today is a brand new episode for Halo 4 ‘s Spartan Ops mode dubbed “Artifact.” Like episode 1 before it, episode 2 features five playable chapters, with more episodes on the way shortly. Needles...

Deo candy is edible deodorant

Image
My eight-year-old daughter swears up and down that Justin Bieber smells like cotton candy when he sweats. I wondered on more than one occasion where she got the story from, and I have told her that there was no way he could smell like candy when he sweats. It seems she was correct, assuming Bieber has a package of Deo Perfume Candy. This new candy appears to be Russian and promises to block body odor from the inside out. The candy is sold by Amazon.com in the US and the maker of the candy says that you eat it, and it leaves your skin with a rose fragrance. The manufacturer claims that the candy contains geraniol, which is a alcohol found rose oil that aromatizes as evaporates through the skin. One scientist claims that we know people who eat aromatic foods, like lots of curry or garlic, find that the food works its way into the sweat and influences how they smell. However, the scientists claim that no one has actually demonstrated that affect. The scientist, named George Preti, is a c...

Apple and HTC reach global legal settlement

Image
It would seem that the patent wars between Apple and HTC are no more as both camps have released a statement detailing a 10 year settlement between them. This is a monumental development for not just the two companies themselves, but for the legal universe surrounding technology and gadgets on the whole. As for HTC and Apple, they’ve made it clear that this agreements means they’ll be able to focus on product innovation for a long time to come. The two groups reported from Taipei and Cupertino with news that today, November 11th, 2012 (depending on where you live, of course), they’ve reached a “global settlement” that will take them both out of battles between one another for a full ten years at least. The agreement they’ve made will be covering not just current patents, but past and future patents as well. Both HTC and Apple have sent out short comments on the matter as well. HTC and Apple have reached a global settlement that includes the dismissal of all current lawsuits and a te...
